There was pandemonium on Thursday evening as fire gutted a section of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation in Alausa, Ikeja area of the State. The incident occurred around 7.00pm. Some staff were still in the ministry when the fire suddenly occurred after the restoration of power by Ikeja Electric. Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were seen rushing to the scene with a tanker to battle the fire. Staff of the Ministry and those of the Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pension who were in the same building rushed out to avoid being burnt in the inferno. It was gathered that the fire emanated as a result of a surge in power. Thick smoke bellowed the atmosphere, with balls of fire seen.
