Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked travellers along the Damaturu-Biu highway near Mahdiya village in the Gujba local government area of Yobe State on Friday. One person was killed, and an unconfirmed number of passengers were kidnapped. It was gathered that the terrorists laid an ambush on commercial and private vehicles plying the highway on Friday morning, attacked and abducted many travelers in six vehicles after killing one of them. One of the travellers who escaped from the attack said that the terrorists stopped vehicles around 9am, dragged passengers out and took them away into the bush. According to the passenger, the heavily armed terrorists took position on the highway at Mahdiya village in Gujba local government area, 40 kilometers from Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
